Colin Parry
My family and I emigrated from the UK in 1988. I have sought to improve my skills by attending courses with many well known Australian artists, John Wilson in particular, but also Tony Smibert, Lance McNeill, Ross Paterson, Joseph Zbukvic and Herman Pekel, amongst many others.
My favourite subject matter is the mood and colour of the landscape and seascape but occasionally I have been commissioned to paint animal pets in pastel.
In recent years I have concentrated on oil painting but also enjoy pastels, watercolours and drawing.
I have sold paintings and won Awards and Highly Commended Certificates at the Bright and Rutherglen Exhibitions, and at other local Art Shows, including the Christmas Show at Pfeiffers in recent years. I also was an artist in residence at Pfeiffers winery, prior to Covid.
While working full time I also taught art classes to adults for about five years. I still enjoy teaching art and would be interested in leading some one, two or three day courses, occasionally.
Since my retirement from teaching in 2005 my wife and I have travelled both in Europe and Australia. As a result, I have not exhibited my work as much in recent times.
The bulk of my current work is our local seascape and landscape. I spend a lot of time on holidays at the coast, painting plein air.
