Penny Heslin

I am a wet felting Artist, working with natural fibres such as superfine sheep wool, alpaca fibre, various natural yarns and silk. Recently I have been exploring bamboo and soy bean fibre.

My felting journey began in 2016 and I continue to experiment and grow my art form by participating in workshops both locally and internationally. I have run popular introductory wet felting workshops and, as required, demonstrations with various groups.

My first wet felting workshop was with Margie Wilmot at Gallery 294, in Corowa I was hooked immediately and have continued to expand my art form over the years. This led to attending workshops in Australia and in the UK studying under Natasha Smart.

The passion behind my work: I love the country life. I love bright colours and the Australian textures. I have lived in regional NSW since moving from Sydney to the country in the early 80s. Forbes, Leeton, Deniliquin and in Albury (for last 20 years). Experimenting with wool has been a constant theme.

The Gateway Gallery space will allow these works to shine and to really appreciate the medium of felting.

Commissions accepted.
