Two artists. Two very different approaches. One enduring subject.

In ceramics, faces emerge from clay; shaped, formed, sculpted and given physical presence each with their own identity and personality. Different surface treatments and decorative effects add to the uniqueness of each piece. Alongside them, paintings and collages combine drawings and painted imagery with handmade papers, creating faces that are fragmented, layered and reimagined.

Together, the works invite us to consider the face as a place where identity, memory, emotion, personality and imagination meet.

Faces can be recognisable yet ambiguous, familiar yet strangely unknown, perhaps a face is never just a face.
