An exhibition of jewellery and paintings by Lee Eastman

22 April to 17 May

OFFICIAL OPENING: Wednesday 23 April, 6–8pm

With guest speaker artist Alison Percy

From a lifetime creating three dimensional shapes in precious metals (jewellery), Lee is now also exploring the illusion of three dimensions with oil paint.

“During the last six years; the time it has taken me to put this work together, the world has gone through immense changes, as I have in my personal life.

I have always referred to natural forms for inspiration in my career as a goldsmith. So, when I began painting ten years ago it was an obvious progression for me to just look at the shapes and patterns in nature that surround us. I believe natural forms are a reminder that beauty is there if we look for it.”

Lee Eastman’s long (40+ years) career in jewellery design and making began with her studies of Gold and Silversmithing at RMIT. Lee developed her individual style and became an award winning leader and teacher. Her passion for organic and individual designs resulted in superbly elegant jewellery made for national and international clients.

“I use precious and semi-precious gemstones, precious metals including 18ct gold and sterling silver with a variety of traditional and innovative techniques.”

"With each piece of jewellery I create, I strive for perfection in the quality of the design, particularly the balance, functionality and most importantly simplicity, to give it strength of character.”

“I have enjoyed the continuous journey of learning, experimenting, and developing new ideas with different tools and techniques plus the challenges and rewards from teaching and mentoring apprentices.”

“I love to feel the connection and energy between my tools and the precious metals as I work, to enhance the beauty of a chosen gem. My jewellery is uncomplicated in its essence while organically inspired.”
