2026 Annual Members Art Prize Exhibition

Stories is our annual members exhibition, showcasing the amazing diversity of art created by our member artists. From intimate ink drawings, bold expressive paintings, and inventive re-purposed sculptures, 21 local artists are celebrating the power of art and story-telling by sharing their own stories.

This year we are excited to be awarding art prizes to the two entries judged Best in Show. Our judge is local art educator and co-founder of Breaking New Ground Learning, Dr Christine Bottrell.

Congratulations to our winning artists!

BEST IN SHOW 2D Entry:

Corinna Adams

The Quiet Pressure of Becoming

acrylic, mixed media on canvas

"Life begins to feel less like chance and more like unfolding.
Something gathers quietly, refusing to stay still.
What was scattered starts to take shape.
What was possibility presses against who you are meant to be.
And so it continues, not finished, but in motion." – Corinna Adams

"A truly lilting representation of story – both visual and text.

Up close it is an evolving and growing form, textural sweeping away to the distance.

From afar – rhythm and flow. Depth and form."

Dr Christine Bottrell

BEST IN SHOW 3D Entry:

Rose Brigden

The Farmer’s Chess Set

clay chess set

"The chess set is the solution a wealthy farmer found for his two fighting sons, one like cattle, the other sheep. Fighting with a chess set saved many black eyes and helped keep the old man sane and happy." – Rose Brigden

"The Farmer's Chess Set – again narrative cues of humour, connection and symbolism. Storytelling strategies used to record context, educate and over time an emerging narrative."

"Both pieces demonstrate understanding of the diverse storyteller roles and use of medium to communicate."

Dr Christine Bottrell

Thank you Dr Christine Bottrell for judging our winners and thank you to all member artists who entered this year’s Members’ Art Prize Exhibition.

PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARD Winner:

Donna Pinder

Perfectly Imperfect

hand-woven textile bowls

"These bowls are an embodiment of where I am in my life. From the struggle to leave behind the self-imposed expectation to be perfect and create perfection, to the realisation that imperfect is ok,
even beautiful in its imperfection." – Donna Pinder
